CHILDREN’S BOOK AUTHOR
There are stories that shape us long before we ever learn how to tell them. This is mine.
Hi, my name is Randy, and I write books. Everything I create grows from the same place: my own journey, the lessons that shaped me, and the values I try, sometimes imperfectly, to live by every day.
Growing up, life was uncertain in many ways. We moved frequently. Home wasn’t always something I could count on. But there was one constant: my Nana’s house. Small, warm, and always smelling like something good was cooking. It was the place I felt safest in the world. Tucked inside that house was a tiny attic with a creaky little door I used to slip through just to have a space of my own.
My Nana was the most important person in my life, and her presence still lives on in many of the things I create.
There were two other things I could always count on: my library card and the music that filled my world. Books were an escape, an open door to different worlds, lives, and possibilities. They showed me that no matter what was happening around me, there was always something more to discover.
As a child, I often felt out of place because of my differences. It took me a long time to understand that those differences were never something to be ashamed of. They were always my greatest strengths. That realization has shaped my life and sits at the heart of every story I tell.
I came to storytelling later in life as a way of giving shape to something I had always carried inside me but didn’t yet know how to express. These books are my attempt to do for others what stories once did for me: help someone feel seen, remind them that bravery doesn’t require certainty, and leave a small piece of the world a little better than I found it.
Today, I write stories that celebrate curiosity, courage, and the magic of being exactly who you are.
I hope the stories you find here offer the same sense of wonder and comfort that stories once gave me.
